"How
lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." –Winnie
the Pooh
I
guess as an elementary teacher it is only fitting that I glean wisdom from
Winnie the Pooh. But he sure is right! These last couples of weeks, and specifically
last couple of days, have been very difficult, as I have said goodbye to family and friends that I hold dear. However, I am so encouraged to be surrounded and
supported by a group of such incredible people.
It’s
hard to believe that the journey begins tomorrow. I will fly out of Salt Lake
at 7 PM and have a brief layover in Denver (where I will get to spend a few
hours with one of my best friends, Ruth) and then on to Florida for a 9-hour
layover. I will arrive in La Paz on the 25th at 9 PM (La Paz is on
Eastern Standard time). After 24+ hours of travel I am sure I will be ready for
my new bed! I would love your prayers for great travel and that my luggage
arrives safely and in one piece. Our team will immediately begin orienting to
the city and begin preparing for the first day of school. No time to waste, as
I will have 14 5th graders coming through my door on August 7th!
Thank
you for being a part of this journey. I am feeling a myriad of emotions as I
prepare to go, but I have great assurance and confidence knowing that the God
of all creation is with me, preparing the way for me. Let the Great Adventure
begin!
The Lord himself goes before you
and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be
afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
“You
will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” Isaiah 55:12
